NAHFO runs courses for its members and others; it is proposed to run a “Management of Fire Safety in Healthcare Course” in association with Loughborough University in the 2011. If you are interested in this course please contact the General Secretary.
NAHFO can also run bespoke healthcare fire safety courses for NHS or other healthcare providers, including residential care. To discuss further please contact the General Secretary.
Loughborough University facilitates a Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Fire Safety and will in 2011 be commencing an MSc in Healthcare Fire Safety. For further details on the Loughborough Courses please see downloads.
The FPA runs a bespoke Fire Risk Assessment Course in Healthcare Fire Safety.
Fire Safety in Healthcare Premises
Filmed in a working hospital, this new DVD highlights issues that must be considered when maintaining safety in healthcare premises. In addition to induction modules aimed at clinical and administrative staff, it provides advice fro managers and estates staff.
The DVD is arranged in nine short modules to allow the training to be tailored specifically to a particular audience or department.
The modules are:
- Action in the event of fire
- Evacuation
- Hazard spotting
- Fire response teams
- Fire extinguishers
- Isolation of oxygen:
- Emergency preparedness
- Reducing false alarms
- Fire safety system maintenance
Training Course
Fire Risk Assessment in Healthcare Premises
Designed in discussion with the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers and delivered by a fire safety professional with current experience of fire safety management in a complex hospital environment, the three-day course delivers practical training with hands-on risk assessment activities.
